Lessons from the Hamas-Israeli Conflict: A Path to Problem Solving

Recognizing Collaborative Solutions

I acknowledge Trump's involvement in the resolution of the Hamas and Israeli war. Although it will take time to fully understand the long-term outcomes, at present the bombing has ceased and hostages from both sides have returned home. This outcome demonstrates the power of collaborative efforts in resolving complex issues.

The Importance of Bilateral Agreements

This agreement was accomplished through the active participation and input of all relevant parties, including those who could potentially be affected if the conflict continued. Each stakeholder had a voice in defining the problem and setting goals, which ultimately led to a consensus on the final plan. This approach highlights the value of bilateral cooperation in achieving lasting solutions.

Applying Collaborative Problem-Solving to U.S. Challenges

Historically, bilateral action has been the foundation for resolving significant problems. It is my hope that Trump has recognized the effectiveness of this method and will apply it to address the challenges facing the United States, whether they are genuine or perceived.

Moving Beyond Unilateral Decisions

Instead of relying on executive orders to mandate solutions for problems that have not been agreed upon through bilateral discussion, a more collaborative approach should be taken. Unilateral decisions, such as firing Department of Justice lawyers who disagree, ordering investigations or indictments based on personal support, or targeting funding sources based only on political alignment, do not foster consensus or unity.

Furthermore, actions like federalizing the National Guard without requests from local leaders, or threatening the use of military force domestically undermine the principles of mutual agreement and cooperation. These approaches contrast sharply with the collaborative efforts that led to peace in the Hamas-Israeli conflict.

Lessons for the Future

There are numerous examples of unilateral actions that could benefit from the lessons learned in the recent conflict. By embracing a more inclusive, bilateral strategy, it is possible to create a better world. However, whether Trump will apply these lessons remains uncertain.
